Think Globally, Act Globally
International Demonstration in Paris against job losses.
March 15th 2007, 14.00 h, Starts at The Paris Stock Exchange
Alcatel-Lucent plans to destroy 12.500 jobs in the next two years. The company is thereby relinquishing knowledge that it badly needs to grow within the market. Instead of using the potential of the fusion to build a transnational company, many months were spent searching for synergies and, most importantly, creating jobs for managers.
The first energetic resistance of the French colleagues and their unions showed that management only understands one language. Vociferous protests and an unexpectedly large participation in the strike during the European day of action forced management to make the first concessions. After the first intervention of French politicians the company gave assurances to the French prime minister that there will be no forced redundancies in France. Potential job losses would only be on a voluntary basis.
Let's put an end to the bad motto "Everyone dies alone". The Paris demonstration is the continuation of the spontaneous social movement of the international work forces of a global player. Let's make sure that we together, be we from Alcatel-Lucent or EADS/Airbus, be we employed or unemployed, are heard in the Paris stock exchange on March 15th at 2pm.
- New Products instead of sackings
- Investment instead of Dividends for the Shareholders
- Growth without Miss Management
- Social responsibility worldwide – No union-free zones in China, Australia and in the USA
- No Job Destruction for shareholder value at Alcatel – Lucent and elsewhere
