We are a committed group of Nuremberg UPS workers with varied years of experience who, in spite of all adversities, started to stand up for the establishement of a workers´council in late 1999.
Our agenda is:
- To see to the adherence of legal regulations and decrees serving the welfare and protection of the workers.
- Better work contracts in accordance with the actual time of sorting. Transfer to other positions and designation of working hours must no longer be used as a form of coercion.
- No more temporary work contracts. Temporary work contracts are merely an excessive extension of probation time and consequently cause everyone to be afraid of losing their jobs after the first or the second year.
- Let´s put an end to arbitrary and unjustified reprimanding. Let´s put an end to the discrimination against workers adhering to their legal rights -workers who point out problems within the company.
- Let´s put an end to the cynism of the management whose attitude was clearly reflected in one supervisor´s remark: “A worker is as replacable as a piece of band. “Supervisors and managers are to adhere to UPS regulations: integrity, honesty and,not least: “consider it done“
- Let´s abolish racially or sexually dicriminating actions and remarks.
- We demand fairness regarding promotion and job transfers.
- Secure jobs and firm contracts for all deliverers-no more contracts with subcontracting agents.
We want a strong works council that supports the rights of the workers and works independent from management´s advices. We want works council members who are committed to the interests of each individual worker and do not submit to neither pressure nor orders from superiors. We do not want a works council which is merely an extended arm of the UPS-management.
Therefore: DON´T BE MISLED! DON´T LET THEM FOOL YOU!
LET´S WORK TOGETHER FOR BETTER JOBS AT UPS
