EWC of Lucent Technologies welcomes settlement

The European Works Council of Lucent Technologies sent on august 9th a mail to UPS Senior Management. The EWC welcome the settlement, which obviously is a new turn in the events In Nuremberg and thanks the UPS senior management for the intervention.

Dear Sirs,

We have just received a press report of the court proceedings against the UPS supervisor and Nuremberg works council chairman Tobias Dede. We are happy to hear that the conflicting parties have reached a settlement that is obviously acceptable to both parties.

This settlement, which legally binds Tobias Dede to never use this Nazi website again for his own personal ends, shows that UPS is obviously prepared not to tolerate such behaviour. We assume that this turn of events is a result of the intervention of senior UPS management and we would like to thank you for your efforts in this case.

The judge made clear at the end of the proceedings that the use of such a nazi website by Dede is not the done thing - even if the content were true. We would like to concur with the judge. Disputes with trade unions cannot be solved with the help of such dangerous criminals.

At the end of the proceedings, Dede apologised. We, too, accept this apology and the matter is now closed.

Yours sincerely, R. B., Secretary, European Works Council, Lucent Technologies Network Systems
