Paris (AFX) - Trade unions at Alcatel-Lucent called for work stoppages on Thursday at all the telecom group's French sites, to protest against plans to cut almost 1,500 jobs.
The move by the labour organizations CFE-CGC, CGT, CFDT, CFTC and FO, which are calling for a stoppage of at least 2 hours, come the day before a committee meeting of European group operations in Paris scheduled for Friday.
'It is a question of once again asking for the shelving of planned job cuts and for the maintenance of the Rennes site,' Herve Lassalle of CFDT told AFP.
